Reiki Massage can be offered as a stand-alone therapy or incorporated into other services. Although Reiki is classified as a complementary or alternative therapy it is also recognised by the NHS as offering benefits to some patients undergoing conventional medical treatments by helping improve their state of mind and boosting their ability to cope with sometimes aggressive or difficult interventions. It is thought to help improve some treatments outcomes. Reiki is a soothing, stress-reducing treatment during which a practitioner's hands are positioned on or above the body's energy centres (chakras) to rebalance energy flow. Whether this experience is purely spiritual or physical, or both, no-one knows, but many people do find it a profound experience with effects that can last from a couple of hours to a couple of days.
